Float cards move through a series of statuses that reflect their current state and whether any action is required. This article explains what each card status means, who can take action, and what to do next.

Card Statuses Explained
Active
The card is active and may have some blockers, which could result in declined transactions.
Active:
- There are no blockers
Active: No Limit Set
- No spending limit has been set. Transactions will decline until a limit is added

- The cardholder can request a limit
- An Admin can add a limit
Active: Business Funds Lower than Card Limit
- The business's available CAD or USD balance is lower than the card's remaining limit
- The card may decline for transactions that exceed the available business balance

- An Admin can submit a topup to increase the business's spending power
Inactive
Inactive: Missing Shipping Details
- The physical card has been created, but cannot be shipped because a delivery address has not been provided

To resolve:
- The assigned Spender will receive an email prompting them to provide shipping details
- An Administrator can also set shipping details on behalf of the Spender directly from the Cards page

Inactive: No PIN Set
- The physical card has been created, but cannot be shipped because a PIN has not been set

- The assigned card owner will receive an email prompting them to set a PIN on the card
- An Administrator can set the PIN on the card for the card owner

Inactive: Card expired
- The card has expired, and a replacement card has been issued, but not yet activated

- The card owner or an Admin can activate the replacement card once received

Inactive: Card owner not KYC verified
- The card is inactive because the cardholder has not completed the mandatory identity verification (KYC)
- Float cards can only be used once the cardholder's identity has been verified

- The Spender must complete their KYC verification
- The Spender must complete their KYC verification
Inactive: Business not KYB verified
- The card is inactive because the business has not yet completed KYB (Know Your Business) verification, or has not yet been approved for Float

- The Primary Administrator must submit the business verification
- Once submitted, they will be contacted via email within 1 business day to complete verification
Locked
Locked: Card Locked by an Admin
- An Admin locked the card

To resolve:
- An Admin can unlock the card by going to Cards > Add Filter > Card Status > Locked
- To the right of the card, select "Unlock Card"

Locked: Card owner locked this card
- The card owner manually locked the card

To resolve:
- The card owner must unlock their card
- In Cards > My Cards > Select "Unlock" beside the locked card
- An Admin can unlock the card
- In Cards > Filter for "Locked" cards > Select "Unlock" beside the locked card

Locked: Card locked due to submission policy violation
- The card was automatically locked because transactions are missing required information as defined by the card's Submission Policy

Unlocking a Card Locked for Spend Compliance Policy Violation (Admin)
Locked: Card locked due to HRIS termination
- The card was automatically locked because the cardholder has been offboarded via your connected HRIS system

To resolve:
- An Administrator can unlock the card by going to Cards > Add Filter > Card Status > Locked
- To the right of the card, select "Unlock Card"

Paused
- A paused card has been paused by Float - typically due to suspected fraud or suspicious activity
- Unlike a locked card, a paused card cannot be unpaused by the card owner or Administrator without contacting Float Support

To resolve:
- The card owner or an Admin must contact Support@floatfinancial.com
Preparing Shipment
- The physical card has been created and is currently being processed before it is sent for shipment
- No action is required at this stage
- Once the card has been shipped, the status will update to Shipped
Shipped
- The physical card has been shipped and is on its way
- You can view tracking details from Cards > Select the card

- To activate once received:
- Navigate to Cards > My Cards (Spender) or use Filters to find the card (Admin) > right side, select Activate
- Enter the last 4 digits of the card number
- Select Activate Card

Cancelled
- The card has been permanently terminated and cannot be recovered
- Cancelled cards are moved to the Archived tab on the Cards page
- Transactions from cancelled cards will still appear on the Transactions page and the card details page
- No action can be taken on a cancelled card. If a new card is needed:
- Card owners can submit a Spend Request for a new card
- Administrators can create a new card
