Float's Notification Preferences page lets you control which notifications you receive and where you receive them. You can manage your channel preferences for each notification topic individually — choosing from Email, Slack, SMS, and Push.
Your preferences are personal to you and do not affect other users in your organization.

How to Find Your Notification Preferences
- Log in to Float at app.floatfinancial.com
- Go to Settings > User Settings > Notification Settings
- Your notification preferences are organized into sections by product area (e.g. Reimbursements, Card Transaction Alerts, etc.)
Please note: The notification topics you see depend on your role. For example, Spenders will not see "Bill Pay" or "Banking and Accounts" topics, as they don't have access to these based on their role. If you expect to see a topic that isn't showing, contact your Float Administrator.
Understanding Notification Topics and Channels
Each notification topic shows the channels available for that notification. Depending on the topic, you may see some or all of the following:
- Email — on by default for all notifications
- Slack — available once your Float account is connected to Slack
- SMS — available once a phone number is added to your profile
- Push — available once you have the Float mobile app installed with push notifications enabled
Not all channels are available for every notification topic. If a channel does not appear as a toggle for a specific topic, it is not currently supported for that notification type.
Please note: Float delivers notifications to all channels you have enabled for a topic at the same time. If you have Email and Slack turned on for notifications, you will receive them in both places simultaneously.
How to Toggle a Notification Channel On or Off
- Go to Settings > User Settings > Notification Settings
- Locate the notification topic you want to update — use the section headers (Cards, Reimbursements, Bill Pay, etc.) to find it
- Toggle the channel on or off using the switch next to the channel name
Changes save automatically. There is no need to click a save button.
Please note: Some channel toggles may not be available to you depending on your organization's settings. See the section below for more detail.
What to Do If a Channel Toggle Is Greyed Out
A toggle may appear greyed out for one of three reasons.
1) The channel is not connected
If Slack is not connected to your Float account, or you have not enabled push notifications on the Float mobile app, the relevant toggle will be disabled. You will see a message explaining what is needed.
- To connect Slack, follow the link in the tooltip or see: Connecting Float to Slack
- To enable Push, download the Float mobile app and enable push notifications. See: Float Mobile App
2) The notification is required by your organization
If your Float Administrator has set a notification to Required, the Email toggle will be locked on for that topic. You will see the message: "This notification is required by your organization via Email."
You cannot turn off the Email toggle for a Required notification, but you can still enable or disable other channels (Slack, SMS, or Push) for the same topic.
3) The notification is disabled by your organization
If your Float Administrator has set a notification to Off, the topic will not appear in your preferences at all. If you believe you should be receiving a notification that you are no longer getting, contact your Float Administrator to check the business-level settings.

Notifications You Cannot Turn Off
Some notifications are mandatory and cannot be disabled, regardless of your preferences or your organization's settings. These include:
- Account and security notifications (such as password resets and new device access)
- Compliance and verification notifications (such as KYC and KYB)
You can still choose which channel receives these notifications, but you will always receive them somewhere.
