Float helps you and your team seamlessly capture email receipts and store them in the receipts inbox. Every user on Float has a personal receipt inbox forwarding email address. Every time you send a receipt to your personal forwarding address Float scan your receipt (using an OCR tool) and save the receipts into your personal Receipt Inbox.
Find your personal receipt inbox email address
You can find your personal forwarding email address by heading to the Receipt Inbox page and copying the address listed in the "Email Receipts" box.
Note: the receipt must be attached or in the body of the email. If the receipt is found at a link in the email, please take a screenshot of the receipt and attach it to the email before forwarding it to us. Additionally, bulk receipt uploads are not supported through email forwarding, so please upload one receipt at a time.
Multi-Entity Receipt Forwarding:
If you've sent receipts to receipts@floatcard.com, but they aren't appearing in your receipts inbox, and you're a member of multiple entities using a shared email address, you’ll need to use your personalized receipt forwarding address.
Auto-Forwarding Receipts (Gmail)
Auto-forwarding is when you set up rules and filters within your email that automatically send a receipt to your Float personal inbox. You can create filters to automatically send all matching emails to your personalized Float receipt inbox to make uploading receipts that much easier! Your filters should only target the emails associated with your Float receipts, so it would be good to set up filters to target emails with keywords such as "Float", "Receipt", and "Transaction". But, you can can get more specific than that if you would like!
For more information on how to create rules to filter your emails through Gmail, please visit Google's support article here.
You can set up auto-forwarding from your Gmail accounts by following these steps:
- On your computer, open Gmail using the account you want to forward messages from. You can only forward messages for a single Gmail address, and not an email group or alias.
- In the top right, click Settings
See all settings.
- Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
- In the "Forwarding" section, click Add a forwarding address.
- Enter your personalized Float receipt inbox address.
- Click Next
Proceed
OK.
- Go back to the settings page for the Gmail account you want to forward messages from, and refresh your browser.
- Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
- In the "Forwarding" section, select Forward a copy of incoming mail to.
- Choose what you want to happen with the Gmail copy of your emails. We recommend keeping Gmail's copy in the Inbox.
- At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.

And that's it! Gmail will start automatically forwarding your receipts based on your present filters to your receipt inbox in Float. We will try to automatically match this to a transaction for you. If we are unable to, you can find these receipts under receipts > not matched in your Float account!
