How can I upload a receipt to Float?
You can upload receipts in several ways:

In the Float web app
- Go to the "Transactions" tab
- Click the transaction that needs a receipt
- Upload the file under the "Receipt" field

Float Mobile app
- Open your Float account in your mobile app
- On the Homepage > select the transaction that needs a receipt
- Select Receipt > choose from upload options

Receipt Inbox
- Go to the "Receipts" tab in Float
- Click "Match" on an unmatched receipt
- Find and select the correct transaction

Card page
- Go to "Cards" > select the card
- Find the transaction and upload the receipt

SMS
- Reply to a Float transaction text message with a photo of the receipt

Email
- Forward the receipt to receipts@floatfinancial.com from your registered email
- Or use your personal forwarding email found in your Receipt Inbox

What if I lost my receipt?
In the case your receipt is missing or you did not receive one, you can mark it as so. The steps for this process are in our article Workarounds for Missing or Lost Receipts.
Note: We would recommended first reaching out to an Administrator regarding marking a receipt as lost or missing in Float, to ensure this process aligns with your company's policy.
Can I replace a lost receipt if I find it later?
Yes, if a receipt that was marked as lost or missing you can upload the receipt if found.
To upload a receipt as lost or missing:
- Login to your account
- Transactions > locate the transaction
- Select the Receipt field > upload receipt
Note: If the transaction has already been exported, you will see a message indicating the transaction cannot be edited. To have the missing receipt added, you will need to reach out to an Administrator for your company to manually complete this in the transaction export.
Can I disable the Missing/Lost Receipt Option?
At this time, it is not possible to disable the option for users to mark a receipt as missing or lost within Float.
If you prefer that users do not select this option, we recommend communicating this expectation to them directly outside of the Float platform.
How does automated receipt matching work?
When you send a receipt to Float:
- We scan for details like merchant, date and total
- If a match is found, it's automatically linked to the transaction
- Most matches are done within a few minutes, but some can take up to 8 hours
If a receipt isn’t matched, it will appear in the "Not Matched" section and you can manually match it there.

How do I find my personal receipt forwarding email?
To locate your personal Float receipt forwarding email address:
- Login to your account through app.floatfinancial.com
- Use the drop down arrow beside 'Cards' and select 'Receipts'
- Your email address will be included under 'Forward Receipts'

Which email providers are available for receipt forwarding?
At this time, email receipting forwarding is available for Gmail and Microsoft 365 users.
Why am I not getting receipt reminder emails or texts?
In the case you are not getting receipt reminder emails, check these settings:
- Your email address is correct in Settings > Profile
- Your email provider isn’t blocking Float (check spam/junk folders)
- Your phone number is saved in your Float profile
Note: If you have the Float mobile app downloaded, notifications will automatically default to app push notifications. If you would prefer to be emailed or texted with reminders regarding receipts, you will need to disable push notifications.
To disable push notifications:
- Open the Float mobile app
- Open your profile (select your profile photo where you see "Good, Morning' or 'Good, Afternoon')
- App Experience > Notifications
- Toggle off 'Allow Push Notifications'

What if a receipt was matched incorrectly?
You can resolve this in two ways:
- In the "Receipts" tab: Find the receipt, click "Re-Match", and pick the correct transaction
- In the "Transactions" tab: Click the transaction, select "Un-Match"
What happens if I accidentally upload the wrong receipt?
In the case the wrong receipt was uploaded to your transaction, it can be unmatched in either the Transactions or Receipt tabs.
Receipts tab: Navigate to the"Receipts" tab > Find the matched receipt > Click "Unmatch" to remove it from the transaction.
Transactions tab: Navigating to Transactions > select the transaction > Click unmatch receipt.
Once the receipt has been unmatched, you can upload the correct receipt.
Can I delete a receipt I uploaded by mistake?
Receipts can be deleted within the Receipt's tab.
If the receipt hasn’t been matched yet:
- Login to your account through app.floatfinancial.com
- Use the drop down arrow beside 'Cards' and select 'Receipts'
- Go to the “Not Matched” section to locate the receipt
- Click the red trash can icon.
If the receipt is already matched to a transaction:
- Login to your account through app.floatfinancial.com
- Use the drop down arrow beside 'Cards' and select 'Receipts'
- Go to the “Matched” section to locate the receipt
- Click the red trash can icon.
Where are my receipts stored? Do they expire?
At this time, receipts are stored indefinitely in Float. You can access them anytime from the Receipts or Transactions tab.
Do I need to keep physical copies of receipts after uploading them to Float?
We would recommend reaching out to a Float administrator for your company to confirm if physical receipts need to be kept once uploaded to transactions in Float. This will ultimately need to be decided by your company to adhere by their policies.
