Float allows Administrators to override auto-pause settings for individual cards. This is useful when you want most cards to follow the rules defined in your Submission Policies but need to exempt one or more cards from those rules.
This article explains how to override auto-pause for a specific card and what happens when the override is applied.
When to override auto-pause
You may want to override auto-pause for a card if:
-
The cardholder regularly submits valid transactions that don’t meet standard policy fields (e.g. recurring vendor charges without receipts)
-
The card is used in a unique situation where enforcement would disrupt operations
-
You need to unpause a card temporarily while issues are being resolved
Overriding allows the card to remain active, even if it exceeds the allowed number of policy violations.
How to override auto-pause for a card
To exempt a card from the auto-pause rules in its Submission Policy:
-
Go to the Cards page in Float
-
Select the card you want to override
-
In the card details pane, click the name of the assigned Submission Policy
-
In the policy settings, locate the Card Compliance section
-
Check the box for Override auto-pause for this card
-
Either:
-
Uncheck Autopause this Card for Policy Violations, or
-
Increase the number of allowed violations to a higher value
-
-
Click Confirm to apply the override
This setting will apply only to the selected card and will not affect any other cards using the same policy.
What happens after the override?
If the card is currently paused and the override brings it into compliance (by turning off auto-pause or raising the threshold), the card will be unpaused immediately.
The cardholder will be able to resume using their card as usual.
