Common Export Errors and How to Resolve Them
Can I still export transactions as a CSV from the Transaction Export Page?
Yes, you are still able to export transactions as a CSV from any of the tabs in the Transaction Export page - Needs Review, Ready to Export, or Exported.
Navigate to Transaction Export > Select the Respective tab
- Use the date picker and filters to filter for the transactions you wish to download
Select the checkbox to the left of the desired transaction(s)
Select the CSV button in the top-right of the page > Select the custom CSV template that you would like to export to
Note: When you are exporting transactions to a CSV from the "Ready to Export" tab, you will be provided the option to either a) just download, or b) download and move the transactions to your Export History.
Why is the "Export" button greyed out when I try and export a transaction?
If the "Export" button is greyed out and you're not able to export a transaction, it is because the transaction is not valid for export. You will need to review the Export Requirements and make the necessary changes so the transaction is valid for export.
To resolve this:
Navigate to Transaction Export > Ready for Export > Select the transaction
See Required to Export > The reason the transaction is not valid for export will be listed
Make the necessary edits to the transaction
Select "Export"
What time zone are transactions displayed in Float?
Transactions in the Transaction Export page will be displayed in Eastern Time (ET). This includes the Authorization date, Capture date, and all filters are shown in ET.
What time zone is used when exporting transactions to my accounting sync?
Transactions exported to your accounting syncs are posted in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The reason for this is that most accounting systems that have an integration with Float use UTC.
What time zone are transactions displayed in when exporting as a CSV?
When transactions are exported using the Standard CSV in the Transaction Export, the time zone is UTC.
If you use a custom CSV, you can change the time zone to local time instead of UTC. If you don’t change this, the export will default to UTC.
To change the time zone in a custom CSV, see: CSV Export Templates
Why isn’t my Clearing Account visible in the drop-down menu?
There are a few reasons why you aren't able to locate your Clearing account in the dropdown menu:
1. GL Code has been hidden in Settings > Chart of Accounts
How to check:
- Go to Settings > Chart of Accounts in Float
- Review your GL Code visibility settings
- Ensure the Clearing Account GL Code is not hidden or disabled
To fix: Re-enable the GL Code visibility in your Accounting Sync settings
2. GL Code isn't configured properly
How to check:
- Verify that your Clearing Account is properly mapped in your accounting integration
- Ensure the GL Code is set up as an Asset account (not Revenue, Expense, etc.)
- Confirm the account type is compatible with Float's requirements
To fix: Review your accounting sync configuration, and manually resync in Float (Settings > Accounting Sync)
3. GL Code is the wrong currency
How to check:
- Verify that your Clearing Account GL Code matches the currency of the transaction or Float account you're working with (CAD vs USD)
- Float only displays GL Codes that match the relevant currency
To fix: Ensure you're using a Clearing Account with the correct currency, or create a new GL Code for the appropriate currency in your accounting system
4. GL hasn't synced into Float at all
How to check:
- Go to Settings > Accounting Sync
- Check the last sync time/status
- Look for any sync errors or warnings
To fix:
- Click "Sync" in Settings > Accounting Sync to manually trigger a sync
- Wait a few moments for the sync to complete
- Refresh the page and check if the GL Code now appears in the dropdown
Still not working? Contact Float Support if the Clearing Account still doesn't appear after a manual sync.
What's the difference between the Transactions page and the Transaction Export page?
The Transactions page shows all transactions in real-time, including declines. It's your go-to for day-to-day transaction monitoring, searching, and managing individual purchases as they happen.
The Transaction Export page provides a cleaner, high-level view showing only approved transactions and authorizations; no declines. You can still add receipts and code transactions here, but it's designed primarily for accounting work like month-end reconciliation, bulk data exports, and syncing with accounting software like QuickBooks or Xero.
