Transaction rules make categorizing transactions much easier! Creating a new transaction rule helps automate attaching GL Codes, Tax Codes, Vendors and other Accounting Fields to transactions based on the merchant that the transaction was used with.
Note: Transaction Rules cannot be formatted for specific cards or currencies. These rules will apply to any transaction made with the applicable details set for the specific merchant.
Transaction rules can be created by users with Administrator and Bookkeeper permissions. To create a merchant rule:
- Navigate to the 'Accounting' tab
- Click on 'Manage Transaction Rules' (On the top right)
- Click on '+ Create new'
- Search the Transaction Name and select it, then add whatever information you want to auto-populate on all transactions made with that merchant
- Click 'Save'
Can we use transaction rules on Float as a vendor?
The answer is YES! You can attach Float as a vendor for transaction rules, and this is often one of the first transaction rules our customers will set up. To do so, follow the video attached here!
