Maintaining a healthy Float balance helps ensure your team always has funds available when they need to spend. The following best practices can help you automate funding or repayments, prepare for urgent funding needs and stay ahead when your spending power is running low.
Cash Account- Configure Auto Top-ups
Automatically replenish your Float cash balance (CAD/USD) from a connected bank account when it falls below a threshold you set. This helps reduce the need for manual funding.

Please note: When choosing your spending power threshold, consider how much your business typically spends over at least a five-business-day period, as transfers from a connected bank account are subject to standard settlement timelines.
Set a threshold that provides enough available spending power to support expected business expenses while your Auto Top-up is being processed.

Enable Interac e-Transfer (CAD Cash Accounts)
Configure Interac e-Transfer so your business has a faster funding option when funds are needed urgently. Interac e-Transfers are typically deposited almost instantly, making them a convenient option for time-sensitive funding needs. Float facilitates funding Interac e-Transfers to Float of up to $25,000 CAD

Enable Spend Threshold Alerts
Configure Spend Threshold Alerts to notify Administrators when your CAD or USD spending power falls below a threshold you set. This provides an early reminder to fund your account before spending is impacted.
To configure Spend Threshold Alerts:
1. Log in at app.floatfinancial.com
2. Navigate to Settings > Business Notifications > Spend Thresholds Alerts > Toggle on CAD/USD
3. Set Custom Threshold > Enter Amount
Please note: Apply the same buffer logic here. Size your threshold and transfer amount to cover at least five business days of typical spending, since bank transfers follow standard settlement timelines.
