Connecting Slack to Float makes it easier to stay on top of spending, approvals, and card activity without bouncing between apps. Once connected, you can receive important Float notifications directly in your Slack workspace.
Slack notifications help your team move faster, keep spending under control, and avoid missing key updates.
Prerequisites
Before you connect Slack to Float, make sure you:

Are a "Primary Administrator" or "Administrator" in Float

Have permission to install apps in your Slack workspace (usually a Slack Admin or Owner role)

Know which Slack channel(s) you want notifications sent to, or have created them ahead of time
If you're not sure about your Slack permissions, check with your IT team before you get started.
How to Connect Slack to Float
Step 1: Create a new Slack Channel (Optional)
If you want notifications to be sent to a dedicated Slack channel, create one before connecting Float:

Open Slack.

Click the "+" next to "Channels" in the sidebar.

Select "Create a channel".

Give your channel a name (for example, "float-notifications") and set visibility (public or private).

Click "Create".
You can create multiple channels if you want to separate different types of notifications.
Step 2: Connect Float to Slack

Log in to your Float account.

Navigate to the "Settings" page.

Click "Slack Settings".
- Click "Add to Slack"

You'll be redirected to Slack's authorization page. Review the permissions being requested.

Choose the Slack workspace you want to connect (if prompted).

Click "Allow" to authorize Float.

Once connected, you'll be able to configure which notifications Float will send to Slack.
Note: You can connect multiple Slack channels to Float if needed, but each notification type will need to be configured separately.
Manage Notification Settings in Float
After connecting to Slack, you will see the Slack Notification Settings page.
You can:

Toggle notifications on or off

Choose which Slack channel receives which notification type
Available notifications:

Funds Transfer Initiated: Get notified when a top-up is initiated
-
Funds Transfer Completed: Get notified when funds arrive in your Float balance
Note:
Notifications for Spend Requests and Missing Receipts are on by default and cannot be turned off.
Users must connect their Float account to Slack to receive these notifications.
Private Channel Setup
If your Slack channel is private, you must manually invite the Float app to the channel:

In Float, try searching for the private channel under Settings > Slack Settings.

If it does not appear, go to the private channel in Slack.

Type
@Float
in the message field and click on the Float app. -
Select Invite them when prompted.

Return to Float, refresh the page, and try searching for the channel again.
Troubleshooting Connection Issues

Don't see the Slack workspace you want? You might not have permission to install apps. Check with a Slack admin.

Error when authorizing? Double-check that your Float role is set as "Primary Administrator" or "Administrator".

Already connected but not seeing notifications? You may still need to configure your Slack notification settings.
