Transaction Reviews let you add an extra layer of oversight to company spending. Once spending happens, managers can review transactions based on your custom policies and mark them as either Permitted or Not Permitted.
Transaction Reviews are only available on the Professional Plan. Reach out to support@floatfinancial.com to upgrade your plan.
Guide Overview
How Transaction Reviews work
When Transaction Reviews are configured, Float automatically routes settled transactions for review based on your configured Review Policies. The routing process considers:
-
- Transaction amount: Transactions below a set threshold can bypass review. Those above the threshold are sent to a designated reviewer. Higher-value transactions may be routed to a manager or specific reviewer.
- Review Policy assigned to the Team: Each Team has its own Review Policy which determines the review rules.
- Assigned reviewer: Based on policy rules, the appropriate reviewer is assigned.
Once routed, transactions appear in the reviewer's "Needs Review" tab. Reviewers then can mark each transaction as either Permitted or Not Permitted.

and Marking a Transaction as Permitted or Not Permitted
Important Notes
- Float card funds are not withheld based on reviewer approval. As a reviewer, your role is strictly for monitoring and audit purposes. Approving or denying a transaction does not impact whether the transaction goes through or whether funds are released. For example, even if a transaction is marked as “not permitted,” this does not stop or reverse the charge, it simply flags it for record-keeping and review.
-
Transaction Reviews can only be done prior to exporting transactions. Once a transaction has been exported, you won't be able to Review it or mark it as "Permitted" or "Not Permitted".
Which Transactions are Reviewed
Only settled transactions are routed for review.
The following types of transactions are not reviewed:
-
- Pending transactions
- Refunds
- Cashback
- Float billing charges
Teams and Review Policies
Each Team can be assigned to one Review Policy. A single Review Policy can be applied to multiple Teams.
When a transaction is tagged to a Team:
-
- If a Review Policy exists for that Team, the policy rules decide who reviews the transaction.
- If no policy exists, or the transaction isn’t tagged to a Team, the Default Review Policy applies.
