This article explains how to renew an expiring SAML certificate to avoid login disruptions when using Single Sign-On (SSO) with Float. Certificate renewal must be completed before the existing certificate expires.
How to Identify an Expiring SAML Certificate
You may need to renew your SAML certificate if:
- Your identity provider (IdP) notifies you that the certificate is expiring
- Users see SSO login errors related to certificate validation
- Your security or IT team schedules regular certificate rotation
Certificate expiration dates are managed in your identity provider, not in Float.
How to Renew an Expiring SAML Certificate
To renew an expiring SAML SSO certificate:
- Log in to Float app.floatfinancial.com
- Go to Settings > Security > SAML
- Scroll down to “Identity Provider Configuration Info”
- Here, you will need to press the “Re-Upload XML File” button
- You will need to upload a new SAML Metadata XML file (You can get this new file from your IDP)
- Click “Save Configuration” to update the XML file
- Once the new XML file is uploaded, select "Test SAML Sign In" to ensure it works
- [If Applicable] Toggle on the "Enable SAML SSO for entire organization" option if your test was successful
