How to Create, Edit and Hide GL Codes

If you do not have an accounting integration with Float, you will be able to create new GL codes for your Chart of Accounts by following the instructions below. 

Users with accounting integrations must create new codes or edit existing codes from within their software and then sync to Float. 

Create a GL Code from Settings

Admins and bookkeepers can add vendors from the Settings page.

To do this:

1. 1. Click "Settings" in the left sidebar
   2. Select "Chart of Accounts"
   3. Click "+ Add GL Code"
   4. Fill out all required fields and any optional fields you may need
   5. Select "Create"

How to Edit an Existing GL Code

1. Click "Settings" in the left sidebar
2. Select "Chart of Accounts"
3. Find the existing GL code you'd like to edit
4. Select "Edit" under the "Actions" column
5. Make adjustments
6. Select "Update" to save

How to Change GL Code Visibility from Settings

If there is a GL Code that you have synced in or created that you would like to hide from all users across the Float platform, you can update the GL code visibility by following the steps below. To limit only certain users from seeing certain GL codes, please update your submission policy. 

1. Click "Settings" in the left sidebar
2. Select "Chart of Accounts"
3. Find the GL Code you want to update
4. Look under the "Visibility" column
   • Visible GL Codes show an eye icon
5. Click the eye icon to hide the GL Code
   • The icon will change to a crossed-out eye when hidden
6. Click the crossed-out eye to make the GL Code visible again

Please note: All hidden GL Codes cannot be selected, searched or viewed within the Float platform.
