How to Create Tax Codes and Multi-Part Tax Codes

You can create tax codes manually if your Float account is not connected to an accounting integration.

For non-connected accounts

1. 1. Go to Settings > Tax Codes
   2. Click + Add Tax Code
   3. Enter a Tax Code Name, then enter the first Component Name and its Effective Rate 
      1. If your tax code does not need more than one component, please skip step 4 and select "Create Tax Code"
   4. Click + Add Tax Component to add additional parts to the tax rate

You can repeat this step to add more components as needed.

For connected accounts

If you're using an accounting integration (like Xero or QBO), tax codes are synced from your accounting platform and cannot be created in Float.

To view your synced tax codes:

• Go to Settings > Tax Codes
