You can split a transaction into multiple line items to properly allocate it across different GL codes or expense categories.
Note, it is not possible to split transactions from the Float mobile application.

How To Enable Transaction Splits?
By default, transaction splits are turned off in Float for Spenders and Managers. To enable them, an Administrator or Bookkeeper must update the business settings.
How to Enable Splits:
- Go to Settings > General Accounting > Toggle on Splits for Spenders and Managers
How to Split a Transaction from the Transactions Page?
All Users have the necessary permissions to split a transaction from the Transactions page.

Choose a transaction: On the Transaction page, choose a transaction to split and click "Split Transaction” in the Transaction Details view.

Add Splits: In the Split Transaction modal, add as many line items as you need. You can provide the correct accounting information for each line item.
Note: The amounts for all line items must sum to the SubTotal Amount. If this does not sum to the total amount, this will not properly split, and you will be prompted with a message to balance the total amount.

Edit a Split Transaction: It is possible to edit a split transaction from the Transaction Exports page, and change the values, add more splits or remove a split.
Note: If a split transaction has custom text fields required as a part of the Submission Policy, they will not be visible when editing the transaction on the Transactions page. Only Users with the necessary role permissions would be able to edit the custom text field from the Accounting > Transaction Exports page. See: User Roles.

Choose a transaction: On the Accounting page > Transaction Export, choose a transaction to split and click "Split Transaction” in the Edit Transaction view.
