Additional Chubb specific FAQs
How do I know if my card qualifies for Mastercard insurance?
Your USD card qualifies if it starts with 5190
All other USD and CAD cards are covered by Chubb, not Mastercard
Can I request a new USD card starting with 5190?
All newly-created USD Float cards are automatically created in this issuing series and carry these benefits. Simply request or create a new USD Float card - there are no additional steps required.
Does my business need to be active for an insurance claim to be valid?
Yes. To be eligible for insurance coverage, both the Float card and the Float account must be active at the time the claim is submitted.
If the business or the cardholder account is no longer active when a claim is filed, the insurance provider may decline the claim, even if the original transaction was made on a Float card.
Is my rental covered with Chubb if it was booked before January 1, 2026?
It depends on when the rental was paid for:
If the rental was booked and prepaid before January 1, 2026, it is not covered, even if the rental period starts on or after January 1, 2026
If the rental was booked before January 1, 2026, but paid on January 1, 2026 or later, it is covered, as long as the payment was not prepaid
Coverage is determined when the rental charge is paid, not when the booking is made.
What is the issuing bank when filing a claim with Chubb?
When filing an insurance claim with Chubb, you will be asked to input the Issuing Bank for your card. See which bank to input depending on the currency of your Float card below:
- CAD Float Card: Peoples Trust Company
- USD Float Card: Thread Bank
