This guide will walk you through the step-by-step process of creating a virtual card for users. Once created, virtual cards can be instantly used either online or added to a digital wallet.
Please note, only Administrators can directly create cards on Float. If you are a spender or manager, you can submit a Spend Request for a new virtual card (or limit increase on an existing card) and it will be issued to you as soon as it is approved by an Administrator.
Creating Virtual Cards as an Administrator
- Navigate to Cards > Create Card > Virtual
- Enter the following card details:
- Create Card Name
- Assign Spender
- Choose Currency (CAD/USD)
- Add an optional limit
- Select a Submission Policy
- Click Create
Adding a Limit to Float Cards
Float cards are issued with a default limit of $0. Until a limit is added, no spending will be possible on the card. Recurring and Temporary limits can exist simultaneously on the same card.
Types of Limits
-
Recurring Limit: This should be selected for any recurring spend (such as employee benefits or software subscriptions). Selecting this option will reload funds to a card on your custom recurring interval (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly).
- Temporary Limit: This should be selected for specific, one-time spend (like a work trip). Selecting this option will request a one-time limit with a predefined expiry date. Once the limit expires, the spending power will be removed from the card. Professional plan users will have the option to add multiple temporary limits to one card.
