Auto-Pause is a great feature Float has created to ensure employees are always uploading transaction information! When an employee reaches their transaction limit without transaction details such as receipts, GL-Codes, Tags, Ext. The employee's card will pause and cannot be unpaused until they upload the required transaction details. This is what makes Float industry-leading in spend management!
🧐 How Auto-Pause Works:
Each Float account has a submission policy set up as a requirement for all spenders to comply with when using their Float card.
The submission policy requires certain information to be entered for every transaction made on the spender's card. This could be a Receipt, GL code, Tag and/or description. You can learn how to create and edit submission policies here!
⏯️ How to Activate Auto-Pause:
If you would like to activate the auto-pause feature on your employee's Float cards, follow these steps!
- Navigate to the 'Settings' page in Float, scroll to the bottom and select 'Submission Policies'
- Here, you can edit your default policy, or if you are on the professional plan, you can create unique policies to be applied to different cards for different purposes!
- On this page, you can decide which transaction details you want required to make a transaction "compliant" and how many "non-compliant" transactions are allowed until auto-pausing!
🔓 Overriding Auto-Pause for a Specific Card:
Sometimes, a user requires a little more wiggle room for compliant transactions! This is for you to decide and for us not to judge! If you want to quickly unpause a card that is not compliant with a submission policy, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the 'Cards' page and select the card for which you wish to alter the auto-pause feature.
- Select the submission policy under "Card Settings" and find where it says 'Override Auto-Pause'. Here you can override the policy by toggling 'ON'
Auto-Pause Best Practices:
✅ Be sure to inform all spenders of any policies attached to their cards! This will avoid any confusion around transaction requirements and any declined transactions if a card has been auto-paused
✅ Give your spenders some leeway! We suggest setting this policy to no less than 2 and no more than 10 non-compliant transactions. Less than 2 can lead to unwanted card pausing between transactions close in time.
✅ Create unique submission policies for unique card needs! This can ensure each card is given the policy it really needs.
✅ Give your employees regular reminders on the importance of uploading transaction details in the moment!
