Step 2 - Head over to the Slack settings in the Float settings page
Step 3 - Connect to Slack with the "Add to Slack" button.
Once you click "Add to Slack", you'll need to select a channel for Float to connect to. If you're having trouble finding your channel in the dropdown, typing within the box below will allow you to better find the channel you're looking for!
Notes: Your Slack configuration may require an admin approval to install a new app. Request approval from your team and once they have approved the app; you will get a Slack notification and you can head back to this page to continue!
If the Float app does not appear within the Apps section of your Slack, you can manually add the application by following the steps below:
Head to Important Considerations if you are using a private channel.
Step 4 - Manage Slack Notification Settings
After you connect Slack to Float, your Slack settings page should look similar to the image below:
On this page, you can toggle on/off notifications and edit which channels to receive which notifications.
-
Funds Transfer Initiated - get notified every time a topup is initiated to your Float balance
-
Fund Transfer Completed - get notified when funds arrive in your Float balance
Note: Notifications for Spend Requests and Missing Receipts are turned on by default and cannot be changed. Users will need to connect their Float account to slack in order to receive these notifications.
Step 5 - Head over to the Users page and connect Slack users to Float
Note: If the "Connect to Slack" button is not showing up on your users page, give it a quick refresh
On the users page, you will see a new action "Connect to Slack".
Once you press the "Connect to Slack" button, you will be prompted to match your user to the appropriate Slack user.
All you have to do is to connect the right user and that's it! From now on, your employees will be able to approve spend requests and receive Float notifications right in their Slack app.
Important Considerations: If using a private channel, you will need to add Float to that slack channel for it to show as an option when selecting in Float.
Under Settings > Slack Settings you might find that the channel you want is not there, this is likely due to the slack channel being private.
You will need to invite Float to the channel on Slack for it to show as an option.
1. Test to see if you can search the channel in Settings > Slack Settings on Float
2. If it does not show, navigate to Slack > to the channel you want to get notifications too and @Float and click on the Float app and hit enter.
3. From here inside Slack it will ask you if you want to invite them to the channel - click "invite them"
4. Navigate back to Float, hit refresh and search the channel again and it should be there.
