The Manager role enables visibility over your direct reports' spending. This article will guide you through the Manager role, assigning a user as a Manager, and how you can edit a user's role to become a Manager.

Manager role permissions
The manager role within Float gives you the following permissions:
- Manage all of your own and your team's cards and transactions
- Pause and unpause your team's cards
- Approve spend requests from your team members

Creating a new user with the Manager role
Administrators can invite new users and assign them as a Manager by following these steps:
- Login to app.floatfinancial.com as an admin
- Click on the "Users" tab on the bottom left navigation bar
- Click "+ Add User" on the top-right of the screen
- Input the User's Name, Email, Title, and select "Manager" as their role
- Choose the Manager's direct reporting manager (if applicable)
- Click "Save"
- The user will receive a welcome email to create a password and log into Float
Giving an existing user the Manager role
Administrators can change a user's role by following these steps:
- Login to app.floatfinancial.com as an admin
- Users > select the user you want to edit > click "Edit" at the right-end of the user's row
- Complete the security code validation
- Change their role to "Manager" > click Save
- The user is now a manager within your Float account
Please note: If your company has an HRIS integration, this field will be automatically updated for you when you sync your HRIS. You will not be able to update a manager role in Float if you have an HRIS integration, you will have to make this update in your HRIS and re-sync. Please ensure that the user's email in your HRIS exactly matches their email in Float for the role change to be applied.
Routing Approvals and Transaction Reviews to Managers
Managers can be included in approval policies for Cards & Limits, Reimbursements, and Bill Approvals.
